Faculty Mentor Award

Congratulations to our 2026 Faculty Mentor Award winner, Dr. Dave Kreiner of the Department of Psychological Science!

 

 

Undergraduate research and creative projects exemplify ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s pillars of engaged learning and future-focused academics. The Undergraduate Research and Creative Project Mentor Award honors the vital role that faculty play in the development of these works. The award recognizes one faculty member’s contribution to undergraduate scholarship/creative work and is given out at the annual ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Scholars Symposium

 


Eligibility

Faculty in any department who have directed one or more of the following: McNair project, Symposium presentation, Undergraduate Scholars Grant recipient, and/or Honors Project.

Award

  • $1000 in professional development funds
  • Recognition at the annual ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Scholars Symposium 

Criteria

Faculty nominees will be evaluated on the following:

  • Mentorship of student research and/or creative projects that demonstrate strong commitment to engaged learning and future-focused academics         
  • Promotion of a culture that supports undergraduate research and/or creative projects at department, college, and/or university-levels
  • Incorporation of undergraduate research and/or creative projects into the classroom
  • Contribution to field through their own active research agenda or creative works

Selection Process

  • Students must nominate faculty by March 1st at 11:59 pm
  • Nominated faculty will then be asked to provide a curriculum vitae and a 200-250 word statement on their work within undergraduate research/creative activities
  • The final recipient will be chosen by the University Research Council
